Why Choose Our 14-Day Yoga Retreat in Rishikesh?

Many yoga retreats offer a few daily classes before sending guests off to explore on their own. At Pyramid Yogshala, we believe a truly meaningful retreat comes from living yoga, not simply practising it.

For two weeks, you’ll become part of a welcoming international yoga community, sharing the daily life of our residential Yoga Teacher Training programme. You’ll practise alongside aspiring yoga teachers from around the world, attend selected educational classes, enjoy healthy meals together and experience the supportive atmosphere that naturally develops within an authentic ashram.

This unique approach offers the best of both worlds. You gain access to the richness and structure of a professional Yoga Teacher Training programme while maintaining the freedom of a retreat. There are no exams, no teaching assessments and no pressure to become a yoga teacher—only the opportunity to deepen your understanding of yoga in a genuine and inspiring environment.

Our experienced Indian teachers guide every session with care, adapting practices to suit different levels of experience. Whether your goal is to improve flexibility, reduce stress, develop a meditation practice or simply take a meaningful break from everyday life, you’ll receive personalised guidance throughout your stay. Beyond the yoga classes, you’ll enjoy nourishing sattvic meals, peaceful accommodation, opportunities to explore the spiritual heart of Rishikesh and two traditional Ayurvedic therapeutic massages that complement your daily practice and promote complete relaxation.

This is more than a holiday. It’s an opportunity to step away from distractions, embrace a healthier rhythm of life and discover the transformative power of authentic yoga in its birthplace.

Nourishing Yogic Meals

In yoga, food is considered one of the foundations of good health and mental clarity. Every meal served at Pyramid Yogshala is prepared with this philosophy in mind.

Throughout your retreat, you’ll enjoy three wholesome vegetarian meals each day, freshly cooked using seasonal ingredients and inspired by the principles of a traditional sattvic diet. These meals are designed to nourish your body, support your yoga practice and leave you feeling energised rather than heavy.

Our menu combines authentic Indian cuisine with occasional international dishes, offering variety while maintaining a focus on balanced nutrition and digestibility.

Each day includes:

  • A nourishing breakfast after morning practice
  • A generous vegetarian lunch featuring fresh vegetables, grains, legumes and seasonal specialities
  • A light and satisfying evening dinner
  • Herbal teas
  • Unlimited filtered drinking water

We are happy to accommodate most dietary requirements, including vegan, gluten-free and allergy-sensitive meals, provided we are informed in advance.

Sharing meals with fellow retreat participants and Yoga Teacher Training students is also an important part of the experience. These moments often become opportunities for meaningful conversations, cultural exchange and lasting friendships.

More Than a Retreat—A Way of Life

The beauty of spending two weeks in a traditional yoga school lies in the small moments as much as the structured classes. Morning conversations over herbal tea, shared meals with students from around the world, quiet evenings after meditation and spontaneous discussions with teachers all become part of the learning experience.

By the end of your stay, you won’t simply have attended a yoga retreat—you’ll have experienced the rhythm, discipline and warmth of an authentic yogic community. These daily experiences often become the memories that guests carry home long after the retreat has ended.

Your 14-Day Yoga Retreat Journey

A meaningful transformation doesn’t happen overnight. It unfolds gradually through consistent practice, mindful living and the simple rhythm of each day.

Over the course of two weeks, you’ll become part of the Pyramid Yogshala community, practising alongside our Yoga Teacher Training students while enjoying the freedom to learn, rest and explore at your own pace.

Each day offers a harmonious balance of yoga, meditation, learning, healthy meals and personal time. As your body grows stronger and your mind becomes quieter, you’ll begin to experience the deeper benefits of a traditional yogic lifestyle.

While the specific Yoga Teacher Training classes and cultural activities may vary according to the monthly schedule, the journey remains the same: one of balance, awareness, connection and personal growth.

Day 1 – Arrival, Welcome & Settling In

Your journey begins with your arrival at Pyramid Yogshala. After your complimentary airport transfer from Dehradun (if requested), you’ll check into your room and have time to relax after your travels.

In the evening, you’ll meet our teachers, staff, fellow retreat guests and Yoga Teacher Training students during a warm welcome session. This introduction helps you settle into the rhythm of the ashram and prepares you for the days ahead.

Enjoy your first wholesome yogic dinner before a peaceful evening meditation that marks the beginning of your retreat.

Highlights

  • Airport pick-up (optional)
  • Check-in and orientation
  • Welcome gathering
  • Evening meditation
  • Healthy vegetarian dinner
Days 2–4 – Building the Foundations

Your first full days introduce you to the daily rhythm of ashram life.

Each morning begins with Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation before breakfast. Later, you’ll participate in selected Yoga Teacher Training sessions, exploring topics such as Yoga Philosophy, Alignment, Meditation, Anatomy or traditional yogic practices.

Afternoons provide time to rest, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, visit local cafés, walk along the River Ganges or simply reflect on your experiences.

As your body adapts to daily practice, you’ll begin to notice increased flexibility, improved posture and a growing sense of calm.

Day 5 – Relax, Restore & Rejuvenate

By the fifth day, your body has begun adapting to a more active and mindful lifestyle.

To support your recovery, you’ll enjoy your first complimentary Ayurvedic therapeutic massage, helping to release muscular tension, improve circulation and promote deep relaxation.

Combined with yoga, meditation and wholesome nutrition, this traditional treatment encourages both physical recovery and mental balance.

Days 6–7 – Living the Yogic Lifestyle

As the retreat progresses, yoga naturally extends beyond the classroom.

You’ll continue participating in selected Yoga Teacher Training sessions while discovering how yogic principles influence everyday life through conscious breathing, mindful eating, positive thinking and self-awareness.

Depending on the weekly programme, you’ll also take part in one or more community activities such as:

  • Beach Yoga by the River Ganges
  • Sound Healing Session
  • Ganga Aarti Ceremony
  • Temple Visit
  • Guided Walk through Rishikesh

These shared experiences deepen your connection with both the local culture and your international yoga community.

Week Two – Deepening Your Practice

The second week is where many guests experience the greatest transformation.

With the daily routine now familiar, your attention naturally shifts from learning individual techniques to experiencing yoga as a complete way of living.

Morning practice feels more fluid, breathing becomes deeper and meditation begins to feel increasingly natural.

Days 8–10 – Developing Confidence

As your confidence grows, you’ll continue attending carefully selected Yoga Teacher Training sessions while refining your understanding of yoga.

Topics may include:

  • Yogic Philosophy
  • Traditional Meditation Techniques
  • Breath Awareness
  • Alignment Principles
  • Yogic Lifestyle
  • Mindfulness in Daily Life

You’ll also have ample free time to visit nearby temples, enjoy the cafés of Laxman Jhula, read beside the Ganges or simply rest within the peaceful surroundings of the ashram.

Day 11 – Ayurvedic Renewal

After another energising morning practice, it’s time for your second complimentary Ayurvedic therapeutic massage.

This treatment offers a wonderful opportunity to release any remaining physical tension while leaving you refreshed for the final days of your retreat.

Many guests describe this as one of the most restorative moments of their stay.

Days 12–13 – Integration & Reflection

As your retreat draws to a close, you’ll begin integrating everything you’ve learned into a sustainable daily routine.

Yoga becomes less about perfecting postures and more about cultivating awareness, balance and presence in everyday life.

These final days are often filled with meaningful conversations, shared meals, laughter and moments of quiet reflection with the friends you’ve made throughout your journey.

By now, you’ll likely notice not only physical changes but also a greater sense of mental clarity, emotional balance and inner peace.

Day 14 – Carry the Experience Home

Enjoy one final morning of yoga, breathwork and meditation before sharing breakfast with your yoga family.

After a closing gathering and farewells, you’ll depart with much more than photographs and memories.

You’ll leave with practical tools for managing stress, maintaining a regular yoga practice, improving your wellbeing and living with greater mindfulness.

For many guests, the retreat marks not the end of a journey, but the beginning of a healthier and more conscious way of life.

Farewell Highlights

  • Final yoga and meditation session
  • Farewell breakfast
  • Time for photographs and goodbyes
  • Departure with renewed energy and inspiration

Yoga gradually becomes less about individual postures and more about cultivating balance in everyday life.

Continue sharing classes and meals with your international yoga community while integrating everything you’ve experienced throughout the retreat.

Please Note

The Yoga Teacher Training timetable evolves throughout the month to provide a comprehensive educational experience for our students. As a result, the specific classes, workshops and cultural activities included in your retreat may vary depending on your arrival date.

The overall structure, daily rhythm and retreat experience remain consistent, ensuring every guest enjoys an authentic immersion into the traditional yogic lifestyle while benefiting from the richness and diversity of our residential Yoga Teacher Training programme.

Ayurvedic Wellness – Restore Body & Mind

Yoga and Ayurveda have complemented one another for thousands of years, sharing the same goal of creating harmony between the body, mind and spirit. During your retreat, these ancient traditions come together to provide a truly holistic experience.

As part of your stay, you’ll receive two complimentary Ayurvedic therapeutic massages, carefully scheduled to support your yoga practice and enhance your overall wellbeing.

These treatments are more than simply relaxing—they are designed to encourage the body’s natural healing processes by easing muscular tension, stimulating circulation and promoting deep physical and mental relaxation. After several days of daily yoga practice, they provide the perfect opportunity to recover, recharge and reconnect with yourself.

Combined with meditation, nourishing meals and restful sleep, Ayurvedic massage becomes an integral part of your wellness journey, helping you leave the retreat feeling lighter, calmer and more balanced.

Discover the Spiritual Heart of Rishikesh

Known as the Yoga Capital of the World, Rishikesh has inspired yogis, saints and spiritual seekers for centuries. Surrounded by the Himalayan foothills and blessed by the sacred River Ganges, it offers a unique environment where the practice of yoga extends far beyond the walls of a studio.

Throughout your retreat, you’ll have opportunities to explore the city’s rich spiritual heritage through carefully selected cultural experiences and community activities.

Depending on the retreat schedule, these may include:

  • Witnessing the enchanting Ganga Aarti ceremony on the banks of the River Ganges
  • Visiting ancient temples and sacred sites
  • Beach Yoga beside the river
  • A deeply relaxing Sound Healing session
